In some ways yes, but in many more ways no. We can cruise in the same areas and see the same things as large tour operators but that's where it ends. We do not compete with other tours as we provide bespoke river experiences often for two passengers only. For a little extra you get to explore places that others do not and spend more time doing exactly what you want with flexible tour schedules.
Silent Tour Boat Cruises depart from Lily Lagoon at Celebrity Tree Boat ramp. There are a few accommodations that are within 2 minutes walk of the boat ramp.
Morning Tours start at 7am and return at Midday.
Afternoon tours start at 1pm and return around 5.30pm.
There is some flexibility with departure times - we can leave at day break for those wishing to see more bird and wildlife.
We run a 5.3m Quintrex bowrider - big enough to be very comfortable and safe, small enough to get into the lagoons, creeks and drive in waterfalls. A new eco-efficient Yamaha 4 stroke 130HP motor powers the boat. It is whisper quiet yet powerful if there is any need to get back at speed. A newly installed full cover shade gets you out of the sun and kept cool and the Avator electric auxiliary outboard provides super quiet cruising through the small waterways, reduces our impact on the environement and allows us to get closer to wildlife.
A hat, sunglasses, refillable waterbottle, sand shoes that can get wet or sports sandals, day bag, towel if you wish to swim and your preferred beverage to place in the esky. Please also bring any required medication, special foods, snacks, or other beverages you may prefer. A camera is optional but highly recommended
We provide binoculars, sunscreen, insect repellent, a light snack served with bush tea and tuning of the senses if you wish to spot wildlife and get the most out of your experience.
No, not for the boat cruises. However you do need to be able to step onto the boat from the jetty. We will help you get in and out. If you would like to explore waterways by foot up river, the more balance & agility you have the easier your exploration will be.

After deprating the boat ramp at Celebrity Tree park we cruise Lily Creek Lagoon under electric power. After 20 minutes in this magical waterway we join the Ord River (Lake Kununurra) and head up river past Sleeping Buddha before entering Emu Creek. Here we glide again under electric power past Elephant Rock to the Northern side where other tours dont get to go. In the morning there are wonderful reflections, sounds and more wildlife to be enjoyed on clam days.
We then carry on up river past Packsaddle powerline crossing before enetering red rock escarpments and pandanus lined river banks - this feels like a step back in time to the Durassic period. Look out for the Cycad plants ( Cycas pruinosa ) and other unique trees pointed out by your guide Steve.
In the wet season we pass many waterfalls cascading directly into the river while others can be seen flowing high above the river.
Further up river we may see the Short-eared Rock Wallaby. Silent Tours has a licience with parks and wildlife (DBCA) so you wont see the guide inticing or feeding the wildlife but we will enjoy seeing the wallabies in their natural habitat behaving naturally.
Further up we will slowly drive into the crevass and turn off the motor to experience being surrounded by rock walls and the sounds of trickling water.
For the adventerous, there is an option to do a 30 minute walk. This requires some agility but not so much fitness as we slowly walk past some of the largest paperbark trees you will find in the Kimberley before finding a secluded waterfall and gorgeous swimming spot.
Carrying on up to Carlton Gorge (named after the old Ord river irrigation pump) we may spot more rock wallabies and at certain times of the year one of the few remaining Kimberley Rose trees. In the wet season there is an option to drive to and almost under a waterfall.
Heading back we stop into Coolamon Creek - a bird lovers heaven full of bird calls and an atmosphere completely diffent to the main river.
If time allows we head up Stonewall creek - most commonly known as Spillway. This is the overflow from lake Argyle .
We head back down river and for those who elect for an afternoon cruise there is an option for extra time at sunset to enjoy a platter and drinks while watching the clours change in the sky and reflect in the water.
A hat, sunglasses, refillable waterbottle, sand shoes that can get wet or sports sandals, day bag, swimwear & towel if you wish to swim and your preferred beverage to place in the esky. Please also bring any required medication, special foods, snacks, or other beverages you may need or prefer. A camera is optional but highly recommended
